It is four o’clock.
It is five past six.
It is quarter past four.

B. Giving more information
9 AM – Nine o’clock in the morning.
12 PM – Midday
5 PM – Five o’clock in the afternoon.
7 PM – Seven o’clock in the evening.
7.57 – Nearly/Almost eight o’clock.
8.02 – just after eight
11.30 PM – eleven thirty at night

Note: Use minutes with to and past when the number of minutes is not five, ten, fifteen, twenty or twenty-five, e.g three minutes past sixnot three past six
1. Write the time in words.
- 3.10: three ten/ten past three
- 9.15: nine fifteen/fifteen past nine
- 10.25: ten twenty-five/twenty-five past ten
- 3.35: three thirty-five/twenty-five to four/thirty-five past three
- 11.45: eleven forty-five/a quarter to six
- 3.45: three forty-five/a quarter to four
- 7.20: seven twenty/twenty past seven
- 2.30: a half past two/ two thirty
- 4.40: four forty/ twenty to five
2. Write the time in words. Use past and to
- 12.30: half past twelve
- 7.15: a quarter past seven
- 9.30: half past nine
- 11.35: thirty-five past eleven/twenty-five twelve
- 3.50: ten to four
- 8.25: twenty-five past eight
- 1.03 three minutes past one/ just after one
- 2.45: a quarter to three
- 4.17: seventeen minutes past four
